Kentucky Football: 3 takeaways from win vs. Toledo in Week 1

2. Terry Wilson still has plenty to prove
It took Terry Wilson a little bit to get going against Toledo, struggling to keep pace without Benny Snell in the backfield to help him out. His statistics weren’t horrible by any means. He finished 19-for-26 for 246 yards and two touchdowns.
It wasn’t an amazing performance, but it wasn’t a home run either and he still has a lot of growing to do.
The run game took a bit to get going as well and there was no one player that really stole the show as Benny Snell would have. The Toledo defense was able to hold Kentucky to 176 rushing yards between the three running backs who contributed, which just isn’t enough when you play Florida in two weeks. That slow start will not work out when you take on those big SEC East teams like Georgia or Florida.
Simply put, I am not convinced that Kentucky’s offense is really ready to put together a successful 2019 season. They started too slow, there were too many overthrows and it was just not overall a pretty performance that should have been way more impressive against a team like Toledo.
