1. Lane Kiffin’s future may be in doubt

After a four-year break from being a head coaching, Lane Kiffin was hired by FAU in 2017. His first season with the Owls went surprisingly well as the team finished a perfect 8-0 in conference play and 11-3 overall. This season was capped off with a win in the Boca Raton Bowl.

However, 2018 was mostly a disaster. Florida Atlantic finished fifth in the Conference USA. The Owls failed to make a bowl game despite having one of the most electric running backs in the country, Devin Singletary. Expectations were very high for Kiffin’s squad and they were nowhere near meeting them.

Had the Owls beat Ohio State, Kiffin would have made a huge statement about his coaching abilities. Even if they got close, he would have earned some recognition. But at this point, there is increasing doubt regarding Kiffin as a head coach. If the rest of the season doesn’t go well, Lane may find himself looking for a new job come 2020.
