Kentucky football beat Toledo 38-24 in a game where the Wildcats got off to a slow start, but a strong finish. How did the Wildcats grade?
The Wildcats didn’t play their best football against Toledo, but ultimately got things together and won by a comfortable margin. Kentucky was up by 21 points late in the fourth when Toledo was able to force a fumble and score with just over one minute to cut the lead to 14 points. Toledo tried an onside kick that Kentucky recovered and was able to take a few knees and come away with a win.
Toledo’s starting quarterback, Mitchell Guadagni, had Toledo in the game with a chance of pulling off the upset. He got hurt in the third quarter and Kentucky was able to dominate the game after that.
The offense for Kentucky got off to bit of a slow start as well, the first half they came away with 14 points, but left points on the field. The second half was a different story as quarterback Terry Wilson looked much better and the offense opened up the field more. They managed 24 points in the second half to put the game out of reach.
While this was an up and down overall performance for the Wildcats, they came away with a comfortable win and have a lot to build upon. Let’s look at a quick report card for the offense and defense.
