USC Football: 3 takeaways from worrisome win over Fresno State

2. Fresno State is going to be tough to beat in Mountain West
Most prognosticators have Hawaii, Fresno State and Boise State as the three favorites in the Mountain West this season. The Bulldogs have a lot to be proud of with their performance on Saturday night against the Trojans considering they lost so much from last year’s team including starting quarterback Marcus MacMaryion.
Well, they found a quarterback in Jorge Reyna. He is the embodiment of Fresno State football. The senior signal-caller is undersized, but tough with a good arm and a never-say-die attitude.
Defensively, they calmed down after giving up two touchdowns in USC’s first two drives. The Bulldogs settled down, and got back into the game. They only gave up one offensive touchdown the rest of the game (the other touchdown was scored on special teams).
The Bulldogs harassed both Trojan quarterbacks all night, and turned USC over four times.
Although they lost, the Trojans know they were in a fight with the Bulldogs. Fresno State fought to the last minute. No disrespect to the Rainbow Warriors, we might just see Bulldogs vs. Broncos II for the Mountain West title.
