Duds

Nebraska

Nebraska came into this season as a dark horse candidate to win the Big Ten. If the Cornhuskers don’t show improvement, hopes of that can go out the window. They managed to win, but the Cornhuskers did not look sharp whatsoever. We’ll see if they can right the ship against Colorado

Iowa State

Similar to Nebraska, the Cyclones just didn’t live up to the hype. Both of these teams have great head coaches, but they are going to need to show some progress. The Cyclones should not have to go to triple overtime against Northern Iowa.

The SEC

Everyone believes that the SEC is the best conference in the country, but it did not play like it in the first week. The top teams are great, but the bottom of the SEC is simply atrocious this year. Between Tennessee losing and Arkansas barely winning, there are a lot of coaches on hot seats. The specifics of the SEC will certainly be on my “thuds” list for Week 1.

Alabama’s start

The Crimson Tide arguably have the best offense in the entire country. However, they suspended four players for the first quarter of the season opener. This caused a three-and-out and a fumble in their first few drives. It’s OK to play like that against Duke, but that kind of performance against top teams in the country will make it too hard for the Tide to come back.

The team around Rondale Moore

When a team has a great wide receiver, all you want is for them to put the ball in their hands on every play. They should be what leads teams to victories. However, it appears as if Purdue is wasting Rondale Moore’s talent. The offense looked good, but failing to beat Nevada with one of the best receivers in the country is not a good look.
