2. Louisville should be optimistic

Scott Satterfield took over this Louisville program with extremely big shoes to fill. Obviously, Bobby Petrino’s last year with the team wasn’t great. However, he is still one of the very best to ever coach this game. Louisvilles performance against the Fighting Irish could have been much worse. Notre Dame is a favorite to be one of the four teams in the College Football Playoff at the end of the year. Therefore, the Cardinals played relatively well in this Week 1 matchup.

The ACC had a subpar performance in Week 1, which gives Louisville hope and encouragement that Satterfield’s first season will be an improvement from 2018. The only games left on the Cardinals’ schedule that will be incredibly unlikely to win are their games against Clemson and Syracuse. Their matches against Florida State and Miami will be difficult since they are both away, but definitely not impossible. The rest of their games will be very winnable.

Therefore, if they steal one of the games away from FSU or Miami, the Cardinals may end up with an 8-4 record. All things consider, a finish like this would leave everyone within the Louisville program content.
