3. Georgia (def. Vanderbilt 30-6)

The Bulldogs were dominate on the opening Saturday. They let off the gas pedal a bit in the second half, but if you can afford to do that and still win by a 24-point margin, you’re a great team.

One of the bigger storylines of the offseason was the departure of offensive coordinator Jim Chaney. Under James Coley, the Bulldog offense was hot and cold. Jake Fromm was 15-of-23 for 156 yards and a touchdown. Tailback D’Andre Swift had 149 yards on 16 carries. On the other hand, going 1 of 7 on third down is not a good mark. They also fumbled twice on the day.

The defense held the game down as the offense sputtered in the second half, holding the Commodores to 3-of-14 on third down. Tailback Ke’Shawn Vaughn was held under 100 yards, and quarterback Riley Neil threw for only 85 yards.

What’s next for the Bulldogs?

Like Alabama, Georgia plays a yawn game next week, as they play host to Murray State.
