4. Oklahoma (def. Houston 49-31)

So much for the regression of the Oklahoma offense. Despite all of the talk that the Sooners would drop-off in the transition from Kyler Murray to Jalen Hurts, that wasn’t the case on Sunday night.

On the game, he was 20-of-23 for 332 yards and three touchdowns. He added 176 yards and another three scores on the ground. Totaling 508 yards and six scores, Hurts had the best individual performance of the weekend in his Norman debut.

The Cougars had the fifth ranked scoring offense is the country last season, and most of that unit is back, so the Sooners were going to give up some yards and points. However, holding Houston to only 5-of-13 on third down was an encouraging mark.

What’s next for the Sooners?

The Sooners will host South Dakota next week. That makes three of the top four teams in the country that are playing significantly inferior opponents in week two. Barring an upset, the Sooners should be here again next week.
