Auburn Tigers Defensive Lineman Derrick Brown
AUBURN, AL – OCTOBER 07: Derrick Brown (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images) /

DL. Derrick Brown. player. 45. Pick Analysis. Auburn. 10. Scouting Report

This would be a prime position for a quarterback but Denver just took Drew Lock last year and I don’t foresee them moving on from him for anybody that’s left in this mock. Derrick Brown at Auburn is one of the best defensive linemen in the country and will help smooth the transition from an aging, Super Bowl-winning defense into the next decade.

More from NFL Draft

Brown is the anchor on Auburn’s defensive line that should be one of the best units in the nation. Brown and co. should be enough to keep Auburn competitive in most games and is a large reason why Auburn has any shot of competing for the SEC West crown.

Brown will fit into Denver’s defense under new head coach Vic Fangio, the defensive mind behind the Chicago Bears elite defense from last year, as a powerful interior rusher to compliment Bradley Chubb on the outside.

If anybody understands the vital pieces of a successful defense, it’s Fangio. He had an incredible defensive front and pass rush in Chicago and his next order of business after going offense with the first three selections last year should be to get to work on making Denver an elite defensive team once again.
