35. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. QB. Georgia. player. Jake Fromm. 12

I’m slightly more confident that Tennessee will be moving on from Marcus Mariota than Tampa Bay is to be moving on from Jameis Winston, which is why I have Fromm coming off the board here. Jake Fromm is going to be highly regarded, and some may think he’s even the best quarterback in this draft. I’m not quite there on him, but this would be a good place for the Titans to get their guy.

Tennessee used a first-rounder two years ago to take Rashaan Evans out of Alabama, and last year used its first two picks to take Jeffery Simmons out of Mississippi State and A.J. Brown out of Ole Miss. This is all to point out that I believe the Titans have a bit of a bias towards SEC talent. They also have invested some early picks recently in wide receivers hoping to help out Mariota. Now it might be time to invest an early pick into a quarterback to help those guys out.

Fromm won’t blow you away. He’s too conservative for that. But that’s why he’s available here and isn’t going in the top five. I think Fromm is exactly what the Titans can win with if the defense clicks. He has better attributes than Mariota and even he was able to take the Titans to the playoffs.

Fromm will excel in the NFL because he’s smart with the football and can make precise throws. His ceiling may be capped without elite physical tools, but that doesn’t mean he won’t still be really good in the league. And the Titans really need a change at the position.
