42. Scouting Report. LSU. Kristian Fulton. player. Pick Analysis. CB. 15

San Francisco is in a similar position to Carolina with a need at cornerback. Thankfully, there’s another corner on the board who can go at this point in the first round.

I think Kristian Fulton has a bit more work to do to become a number one cornerback in the NFL than CJ Henderson which is why I put him second in this pair of picks. He can play behind Richard Sherman before it becomes his secondary to run, whereas Henderson will be plugged in one day one and asked to cover the big names in the league.

I already talked about LSU’s reputation for putting great defensive backs into the NFL when I mocked Grant Delpit to Detroit. The same can be said for his teammate here in Fulton.

Anywhere you go to read about Fulton will talk about how questionable his tackling ability is. It’s not a great attribute to have as a cornerback but he has plenty of time to put out better tape in that regard. And besides that, tackling isn’t what corners are out there to do. They’re out there to cover wide receivers, which Fulton is excellent at. He’s physical and loves to get in his opposition’s grill. He can make plays on the ball and handle receivers on his own. Sounds a lot like his potential counterpart Richard Sherman to me.
