Pick Analysis. Oklahoma. 23. Grant Calcaterra. player. 55. Scouting Report. TE

Pittsburgh is in an interesting place. It just lost two elite skill position players, Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown, and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is 37 years old. The quarterback of the future may already be in place, but the weapons Mason Rudolph will have at his disposal are far from what Pittsburgh had while competing. The Steelers need more weapons.

Grant Calcaterra is exactly what Pittsburgh needs to add a wrinkle to its offense that hasn’t been present in a while. He is a true receiving threat at tight end that could come in on day one and be the number two target on the team behind only JuJu Smith-Schuster. Calcaterra will be exactly that this year at Oklahoma behind only CeeDee Lamb and should put some magnificent tape out for us to watch during draft season.

Expect Calcaterra to draw comparisons to some of the best tight ends to ever play as far as his receiving skills go. He has great hands and lines up all over the field as a receiver. He can run all the routes you could ever ask of him. The downside is his lack of blocking ability. He isn’t going to wow you there, but that’s why I have him going to Pittsburgh. The Steelers have a great offensive line and don’t need the blocking help from this position.

Calcaterra could find few better places to land than Pittsburgh where he can continue to grow as a receiver and show his best skills.
