Scouting Report. Oregon. 56. 2. player. Pick Analysis. QB. Justin Herbert

As of today, Justin Herbert is the other quarterback vying for the No. 1 overall pick. This could obviously change, but for now, we’re going with Herbert at No. 2.

Cincinnati is such a strange team to evaluate. They have talent in a lot of places and have had solid seasons recently. They also finally have a new head coach who is offensive-minded and probably will want to move on from Andy Dalton soon. Herbert might not start right away but he will eventually in Cincinnati if the Bengals select him here.

Herbert is one of those quarterbacks that is such a great prospect because he has the things you can’t teach. He’s huge, he’s got a strong arm, and he’s an incredible athlete. His ceiling is sky-high if he can fine tune those physical attributes. He just hasn’t done it as of yet, which is why he’s second overall here.

If the Bengals end up picking this early, those physical tools will be attached to the cliche that you need a physical quarterback to succeed in the AFC North. Big Ben, Joe Flacco and the Browns finally have fearless Baker Mayfield leading the way. The AFC North is a tough division and Herbert should be able to handle it.

Herbert should go to a team in the top five that’s after a quarterback because of those tools alone. Even if Oregon doesn’t have a great season, he should be fine. I’m most comfortable slotting him high in this mock, whether it’s to the Bengals or another team.
