This is the last offensive lineman in the mock. I promise. But it’s another team that should really consider making the un-delightful, yet necessary, move. The Rams have a great offensive line, but one thing sticks out like a sore thumb and it’s left tackle Andrew Whitworth’s age. He’s 37 and he’ll be a free agent next year. It’s time to think about the replacement.

Trey Adams took a bit of a slide in this mock draft because of his injury history. He tore an ACL and missed 2017 because of it. Then after entering 2018 as a projected top pick on the offensive line, he had back issues that kept him out most of the year. The talent is there, so if his medicals check out then this is a good pick for the Rams.

There are other good offensive linemen in this draft for other teams to ignore Adams. And maybe the Rams do too. You never know with back issues.

But the upside that Adams has is worth the risk here for me. The Rams are one of the teams fortunate enough to be able to pick for upside. Maybe not at left tackle with Whitworth likely to retire soon, but this is a good combo of upside and need.
