2. Ohio State is focused

The Buckeyes have won the Big Ten title in three of the last five seasons, yet they’ve been shut out of the playoff the last two seasons because of two head-scratcher losses — one to Iowa in 2017 and the other to Purdue in 2018. The Buckeyes are on a mission this season to right the wrongs of seasons past and get back into the College Football Playoff.

When you want that spotlight, these are the games you win, and you win them convincingly. The Bearcats are a 16-point underdog in this game, and they should be. However, Ohio State should beat them by 16 or more as well.

Justin Fields heard the chatter after the spring game about his progress. Ryan Day has heard the whispers after taking over for Urban Meyer.

In spite of all that, the Buckeyes are loaded and deep on both sides of the ball. This is the type of game that goes a long way to show everyone who you are. Elite teams don’t fool around with games and teams like the Bearcats. They sense the danger of not putting a team like Cincinnati away, and do what they have to to come away with a win.

A team that knows where they want to be in January takes care of business in September.
