1. LSU covers the spread, routs Texas

LSU has one of the country’s best defenses, and if the offense has truly taken the next step, then this Tigers team could be as good as any iteration in Baton Rouge since the 2011 SEC Championship team.

Look for LSU’s defensive front to overwhelm Texas, forcing Ehlinger to air the ball out against arguably the nation’s best secondary. Look for Grant Delpit and the athletic LSU secondary to dominate the game, forcing several turnovers that quickly turns a close game into a second half rout.

Burrow’s hot streak continues as the LSU quarterback throws for three more touchdown passes, and ultimately LSU’s ground game finds its footing in the second half against worn-out Texas defense. Freshman running back John Emery Jr. has his coming out party, breaking free for a long touchdown run that puts the final nail in the Longhorn coffin.

Texas still may indeed be back, and the 2019 season could still ultimately prove to be a success, but the narrative is going to take a hit on Saturday night when LSU invades Austin and curb-stomps the Longhorns, announcing itself as a legitimate contender in the College Football Playoff race in the process.
