Boise State Football: 3 takeaways from huge G5 win over Marshall

3. Hank Bachmeier continues to develop into next Bronco great
When four-star recruit Hank Bachmeier was tabbed to take over the quarterback spot vacated by Brett Rypien, it was always going to be a gamble. For Bryan Harsin and offensive coordinator Zack Hill, it continues to prove a gamble worth taking, as Bachmeier scripted the second chapter of what is quickly growing into a legendary career.
Slow at the start, Bachmeier heated up as the game turned into the second quarter. Using his legs and his arm, he finished the first half with a bang as he punched in a game-tying touchdown on a one-yard keeper on third and goal.
Coming out of the gate in the second half, Bachmeier completed passes of 24 and 47 yards to give the Broncos the lead. The latter pass went to John Hightower on a beautiful long ball for the score, demonstrating why the freshman was a four-star prospect.
Not all was perfect for the kid in his second game, though. A tipped pass was snatched for an interception in the second half and Bachmeier also coughed up the football. Rushed on many downs, Bachmeier showed immense points that will suit him as he continues to write his name into Boise State lore.
