Nebraska Football: 3 takeaways from crushing loss at Colorado
1. Mel Tucker gets his signature win
Mel Tucker has spent so much time working towards this moment. Since 1997, he’s spent time on various staffs and in various positions. Finally, this offseason, Colorado elected to give him a chance at head coach. Through two games, he’s proven them right.
This win means so much on so many levels. Primarily, it’s a rivalry. Nebraska and Colorado is a storied series, and Tucker has put his stamp on it.
It’s also the way they won. Facing a 17-point deficit at the half, this team showed no quit and complete heart. Every win is satisfying, but overcoming such an obstacle means so much more to a program.
The scene after the game was electric. This fan base, after a few down years, had a massive moment, and they absolutely embraced it. Tucker, as he was interviewed by FOX’s Bruce Feldman, was surrounded by students, fans, and players.
He’s only two games in, but early on, Tucker has absolutely won over the folks in Boulder.
