2. Ian Book gets through September without an interception

While Ian Book combined for 274 total yards and two touchdowns against Louisville, there was a sense that his shakiness in the pocket was leading to an assortment of missed opportunities throughout the game. While Book’s antsy behavior in the pocket was head-scratching at moments, it was encouraging that it never contributed to any interceptions.

Although he did fumble once, Book managed to keep his night relatively mistake-free outside of a few missed opportunities. This kind of play will be a focal point for Book going forward, especially with matchups against Georgia and a turnover-driven Virginia defense looming late in the month.

After all, Book can’t expect a defense with multiple pockets of inexperience to carry the team against Georgia in the way it did vs. Louisville. With that said, look for a more composed approach from Book against New Mexico and beyond. If the senior quarterback can figure things out before the Georgia matchup, don’t be surprised if he finishes off the month with mistake-free football.
