Notre Dame Football: 5 bold predictions for September 2019
By Jacob Wilson
1. Chase Claypool averages over 100 yards per game
Despite Book’s early struggles in the passing game, wide receiver Chase Claypool managed to record 94 yards on five receptions. This came as little surprise to Notre Dame fans as Claypool has developed into one of the more explosive players on this offense during camp. In fact, even the speedy Troy Pride Jr. had trouble keeping up with him in practice.
Despite a matchup against a tough Georgia defense, Claypool’s athleticism alone should put him in the position to make a splash on the box score. With Book hoping to improve in the coming weeks, Claypool could see his stock rise even higher in games against New Mexico and Virginia. Chunk plays will play a huge role in Claypool meeting this mark, especially against the Bulldogs’ secondary.
All things considered, Claypool has turned himself into the No. 1 target on this offense after years of playing second fiddle. With three more games left to leave his mark on the month of September, look for Claypool to set an assortment of personal records along the way of what should be a very successful senior season.
