Texas A&M Football: 3 overreactions to disappointing loss vs. Clemson
By Shelbie Warr
Texas A&M football struggled to get much of anything going against Clemson. Is all now lost or do the Aggies still have a lot to play for?
Kellen Mond and the Aggie offense struggled against Clemson and that is putting it nicely. In a week that was full of near upsets if not full-on upsets, Texas A&M was not one of those teams. Despite a strong defensive performance, the offense just couldn’t get it together and that was what did them in by the end. Seems like the perfect climate for a group of fans to start overreacting about what is going on down in Aggieland, doesn’t it?
Let’s talk overreactions.
3. The Aggie defense isn’t that good
The Texas A&M offense didn’t play well — at all. That isn’t a secret and we will talk about this more here in a second, but this overreaction is all about the defense.
While Kellen Mond couldn’t get going, Trevor Lawrence was only able to get going to an extent. Yes, his team put up 24 points. However, I’m convinced that Clemson is going to put up more than 30 every week for the rest of the season without issue. The ACC isn’t very good and this offense is full of the talent to be able to do just that.
The Texas A&M defense kept Lawrence to 24-of-35 with 268 yards and a touchdown. There was not a 100-yard rusher for the Tigers in this matchup, either. Texas A&M’s Roney Elam was able to grab an interception against Lawrence, too.
Overall, despite injuries across the front throughout the game, Texas A&M has hope on the defensive side of the ball.
