3. UCLA drops to 0-2 with San Diego State loss

Expectations were extremely high for Chip Kelly in his second year leading the UCLA Bruins. He had a full year of recruiting and a complete off-season to prepare his starting quarterback, Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Despite all this, the Bruins have gotten off to a terrible start to the 2019 season.

In Week 1, UCLA traveled to Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats, and fell short, 24-14. Week 2 didn’t go much better at home against in-state opponent, San Diego State. Given that this was a home game, and that the SDSU is in a much weaker conference, the Bruins should have cruised to victory.

Instead, the Aztecs took the fight to them and won, 23-14. The Pac-12 appears to get weaker and weaker as the years go on. Additionally, Kelly will need to turn this team’s performance around quickly before he finds himself on the hot seat. The Bruins have a bye week before they welcome Jalen Hurts and the Oklahoma Sooners to Westwood.
