Baylor moving down to No. 6 is not an indictment on the fantastic job Matt Rhule is doing in Waco, rather it’s more of how dynamic the Oklahoma State offense has looked through two games this season. This week Baylor travels to Houston to take on Rice, and its power running game. We might not know as much as we’d like to about Baylor after this game other than how stout they are up front, but they’ll get tested the very next week when they host the Iowa State Cyclones.

We know what the Bears can do on offense. Charlie Brewer is one of the best quarterbacks in the Big 12, and they can score points. Where Rhule is looking to improve is on a defense that surrendered 424.9 yards and 31.7 points per game last season. They won seven games last year, and won their bowl game. They are looking to take the next step but the defense needs to get better.

I have no idea how good their defense is, but the Oklahoma State Cowboys are going to put up big numbers this season. If you want to see shootouts pretty much every weekend, find out where to watch them.

When the Cowboys went with Spencer Sanders at quarterback, it was obvious they wanted to emphasize the ground game with Sanders and Chuba Hubbard. However, they have Tylan Wallace on the outside and he might be the best wide receiver in the country that doesn’t play for Alabama or Clemson.

They get Tulsa this week, and the Golden Hurricane aren’t very good. They played tough in a loss in East Lansing against the Michigan State Spartans, but that isn’t this offense. The Cowboys are going to play fast and completely overwhelm the Golden Hurricane in this one. The Cowboys better be purring because they get the Longhorns the next week.

The Horned Frogs were off last week and they get ready for a trip to the Hoosier state when they play the Purdue Boilermakers at Ross-Ade stadium in West Lafayette. We know Gary Patterson preaches defense, and their defense will be tested as they attempt to contain Elijah Sindelar and Rondale Moore.

The Horned Frogs’ quarterback situation got interesting at the beginning of the month when Ohio State transfer quarterback Matthew Baldwin was granted his eligibility by the NCAA. TCU played both Kansas State transfer Alex Delton and Max Duggan against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. It will be interesting to see how Baldwin changes those plan and how much — or if at all — he plays against Purdue.
