2. Bo Nix must improve

If not for the late-game heroics in week one to get the win against Oregon, the narrative on Bo Nix would be much less positive. The Tigers are 2-0, and to his credit, he’s produced in the vital situations.

He hasn’t figured things out on a consistent basis, however. Nix is completing only 47.1 percent of his throws, and while he’s thrown three touchdowns, he’s also been picked off twice.

Against Oregon, Nix was poor for almost the entirety of the first three quarters. Against the far inferior Tulane defense, the Nix-led Tiger offense only managed 24 points.

Of course, Nix is a freshman, and all of these inconsistencies are absolutely expected. The young quarterback has made up for his struggles with his leadership, poise, maturity, and every other intangible. As a leader and a presence, Nix fits the bill as the leader of the Tigers.

Now, the focus is on becoming a more consistent passer. If Nix develops in that department, the ceiling for this team is sky-high.
