2. Enter the game with more disciplined approach

USC has had varying degrees of success early on in the discipline department. In Week 1, they committed four turnovers and four penalties that kept Fresno State in the game, despite jumping out to an early lead. In Week 2, the Trojans were terrible in the penalty department, committing 93 yards in penalties, but cut their turnovers back to just one.

They’ve yet to win the turnover battle or the discipline battle when it comes to penalties.

Going forward, they’ll need to improve upon these characteristics, especially against stronger competition. The need to be more disciplined becomes essential as they go forward, as 93 yards of penalties can keep an inferior team in the game on a few drives. USC has the talent to beat any team in the country, as long as the Trojans aren’t beating themselves.
