Pick Analysis. won 45-27 vs. Stanford. NEXT: 9/21 at Pittsburgh. 17. Scouting Report. UCF Knights. player. 886

UCF knows that only perfection will afford them any chance to force the College Football Playoff selection committee’s hand. This year the degree of difficulty ramped up slightly from the past two seasons, and the Knights were on fire as they came up with a huge Week 3 statement against Stanford in Orlando.

The 45-27 final wasn’t even as close as the final scoreline suggests. A couple of late Cardinal scores made the final margin closer than real gap between the two programs. Dillon Gabriel gashed the visitors for 347 yards and four touchdowns through the air as he completed nearly 75 percent of his passes, while Greg McCrae carried 11 times for 109 yards and a touchdown.

Next week the Knights head to Pittsburgh for another showdown against a Power Five opponent. The Knights will be locked somewhere in the mid-teens of the AP Top 25 for their showdown against the Panthers, with the opportunity to launch up the polls as the season progresses and teams ahead of them start beating up on one another.
