College Football Rankings 2019: Projected Top 25, Week 4 – Clemson makes statement
By Zach Bigalke
Florida faced a scare on the road in Lexington, as they overcame a second-half deficit and the loss of quarterback Feleipe Franks to a gruesome injury to prevail 29-21 over Kentucky. The resilient victory should keep the Gators in the top 10 of the AP Top 25 for another week, though they are unlikely to move up the poll as every other team ahead of them won as well in Week 3.
After Franks exited the game, Kyle Trask came in and assuaged some Gators fears by going 9-of-13 for 126 yards. Florida added three rushing touchdowns and ran for 138 yards as a team, with Josh Hammond’s 76-yard touchdown run leading the way. The Gators finished with more than 400 total yards of offense against a tough Kentucky defense, while the Florida defense forced four Wildcats turnovers.
Florida turns right around for another key SEC East showdown against Tennessee when they return to the field in Week 4. With it looking as though Franks could be out for the season as he recovers from the leg injury sustained in Lexington, Trask will need to keep stepping up if Florida hopes to maintain traction in the Top 25.
