Pick Analysis. NEXT: 9/21 at Texas A&M. Auburn Tigers. Scouting Report. won 55-16 vs. Kent State. 8. player. 842

Auburn had nothing to sweat against Kent State on the Plains in Week 3, as the Tigers toppled the Golden Flashes 55-16 to stay perfect in 2019. The Tigers consolidated their top-10 position in the AP Top 25 this week in the process, ensuring that next week’s showdown against Texas A&M will be a high-ranked affair.

The running game did most of the work for the Tigers, with JaTarvious Whitlow leading the way with 135 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries. Joey Gatewood and Shaun Shivers also finished in triple digits as Auburn racked up 467 total yards and six scores on the ground as a team. When they did air it out, Bo Nix finished a more-than-respectable 12-of-16 for 161 yards and a touchdown.

Now Gus Malzahn’s team turns its attention to a Texas A&M team that also has designs of competing against Alabama and LSU for the SEC West crown. The showdown in College Station will serve to help sort out the divisional pecking order and determine which team goes into the final weekend of September as a top-10 program.
