College Football Rankings 2019: Projected Top 25, Week 4 – Clemson makes statement

It was a relatively straightforward blowout in South Bend on Saturday afternoon, as Notre Dame engineered a comprehensive 66-14 beatdown of visiting New Mexico. With the rout of former Irish head coach Bob Davie, now leader of the Lobos, Notre Dame moved to 3-0 on the season and kept themselves locked into a top-10 spot in the AP Top 25.
Ian Book was the star of the game, not even needing three full quarters to rack up six total touchdowns. Book threw for 360 yards and five touchdowns, and he added a rushing touchdown for good measure. In the process, the quarterback accounted for more than two-thirds of the total offense put up by the Fighting Irish against the Lobos.
Brian Kelly’s team gets a major test next weekend when they head to Athens to face off against Georgia between the hedges. Both teams will be ranked in the top 10 when they square off in the critical intersectional battle that will help shake out contenders from pretenders in the race for a College Football Playoff spot.
