College Football Rankings 2019: Projected Top 25, Week 4 – Clemson makes statement
By Zach Bigalke
After the high of a big top-10 win on the road against Texas, LSU could be forgiven for looking a little lethargic against FCS Northwestern State at home in Week 3. The ground game certainly lagged in some ways against the Demons, finishing with only 122 yards and averaging only 3.5 yards per carry, but Clyde Edwards-Helaire punched in two touchdowns on the ground.
Quarterback Joe Burrow added a score on the ground as well, burnishing his growing Heisman credentials. He put up another strong performance through the air as well, finishing 21-of-24 for 373 yards and two touchdowns. Burrow did throw one interception against Northwestern State, but his steady hand ensured that the result was never really in doubt.
Next week SEC play begins for the Bayou Bengals with a trip to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt. After taking on the Commodores the Tigers get a bye week and a home date with Utah State before their October 12 duel against Florida. There is no reason to think they will fall this week after a solid outing in the blowout of their overmatched FCS opponent.
