Alabama Crimson Tide. 2. 829. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. NEXT: 9/21 vs. Southern Miss. player. won 47-23 at South Carolina

Alabama took care of business in their SEC opener at South Carolina, downing the Gamecocks 47-23 in Columbia to remain firmly locked into the No. 2 spot in the AP Top 25. The Crimson Tide were consistent throughout the game, scoring 10 or more points in each of the four quarters to pace themselves to a comfortable rout on the road.

Alabama’s backfield managed to rack up only 76 rushing yards on 25 carries, with Najee Harris leading the way with seven carries for 36 yards. But the Crimson Tide didn’t need to lean on their running game, as Tua Tagovailoa torched the Gamecocks secondary. Completing 28 of his 36 attempts, Tagovailoa finished with 444 passing yards and five touchdowns through the air.

Next week Alabama returns to non-conference play when Southern Miss visits Tuscaloosa. A bigger test looms after the Crimson Tide take a bye in Week 6, when they return to the field with back-to-back games against Texas A&M and Tennessee to start their October slate.
