College Football Rankings 2019: Projected Top 25, Week 4 – Clemson makes statement
By Zach Bigalke
After a shocking defeat in Week 2 on a weird weather-delayed night in Seattle against Cal, Washington reconsolidated their place in the AP Top 25 this week after toppling upset-minded Hawaii. Up 38-7 at the half, Washington exorcised the demons of the previous week’s disappointment against the Golden Bears and the fans at Husky Stadium were treated to a runaway 52-20 blowout of the Rainbow Warriors.
Jacob Eason finally broke out for the Huskies in his third start after transferring from Georgia and sitting out last season, throwing for 262 yards and three touchdowns on 18-of-25 passing. Salvon Ahmed led the way with 83 rushing yards on eight carries, Sean McGrew added 63 yards and a score on his eight touches, and the Washington defense held Hawaii’s potent aerial attack to just 254 passing yards with one touchdown and three ihnterceptions.
In Week 4, Washington heads to Provo for what will likely be a Top 25 matchup against a BYU team that toppled USC this weekend. The Huskies cannot take the Cougars lightly, lest they face the same fate as the Trojans and fall completely out of the rankings.
