2. TCU passing game leaves something to be desired

While the running game pummeled Purdue on down after punishing down, TCU was much more pedestrian when they opted to take to the air. The old adage goes that having two quarterbacks means having no quarterbacks, and it seems to hold true with the platoon system being employed by the Horned Frogs.

Alex Delton and Max Duggan both saw snaps for the TCU offense, and neither proved particularly impressive. Duggan took the bulk of the chances with the ball, finishing 7-of-18 for 70 yards with a touchdown. He also added 20 rushing yards on 12 carries, but that hardly presents much of a bright spot for the position.

Delton was no better, completing just one of his six passing attempts when he was in the game. The former Kansas State quarterback threw for five yards on his only completion, and he was also picked off by George Karlaftis on one of his other five attempts. Delton also finished with negative yardage on the ground.

All told, it was a wholly forgettable effort by the pair of passers, a result that will send the coaches back to the film room and back to the drawing board. Figuring out some way to ramp up the passing game will be critical once the Horned Frogs hit Big 12 play.
