Pick Analysis. Boston College Eagles. player. 11. 826. Scouting Report. 2-1, 1-0. Last Week: 6

You’d have to think that when you host a team that lost to a team named after a mythical rooster (Chanticleers) that you would be fairly confident. However, football is four quarters, and the Eagles forgot that getting routed by the Kansas Jayhawks 48-24. Khalil Herbert and Pooka Williams combined for 308 yards and two touchdowns on the ground as they shut out Boston College in the second half.

What’s next for the Eagles? It’s hard to say, but they need to get better on defense, fast. They gave up 17 plays of 10 yards or more against Kansas including an 82-yard run by Herbert. Jayhawk quarterback Carter Stanley threw for three touchdowns as well.

Life doesn’t get any easier for the Eagles after suffering their worst home loss in the Steve Addazio era. After at short trip to Piscataway to play Rutgers, they get Wake Forest, Louisville and NC State, and they can all score.

In the head-scratcher of the week the North Carolina Wolfpack lost to the West Virginia Mountaineers 44-27 in Morgantown. In a tie game going into the half, the Wolfpack could only muster two field goals on their way to being outscored 23-6 in the second half. This was another game in which an ACC team did next to nothing in the second half.

This was the same West Virginia team that didn’t score until the fourth quarter in against Missouri the week prior. Are we to think ACC defenses are this bad? There’s no other conclusion. If you aren’t going to score, then at least stop your opponent from scoring. The ‘Pack defense made Austin Kendall look like Will Grier this past Saturday. No disrespect to Kendall, but he was awful against Missouri last weekend.

They should beat up on Ball State next week, and then their conference slate begins in Tallahassee in a game that should only be two quarters since neither team likes to play in the second half.

2-1, 0-1. 9. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 847. Last Week: 9. Virginia Tech Hokies

Someone please tweet me and tell me what to make of the Hokies. They get upset by Boston College in Week 1, and then turn in two mediocre performances against far inferior opponents in Old Dominion and Furman. Just to give you a little background on the Paladins of Furman, they are 1-2 this season coming off a 6-4 season last year. They aren’t North Dakota State, James Madison or Eastern Washington.

This game shouldn’t have been this close. Moreover, the Hokies should not have had to come back from being down 14-3. A conservative game plan and playing down to your competition can’t explain away quarterback Ryan Willis getting sacked five times with and two turnovers.

When you want to be considered a power in your conference, these are the teams you beat 50-0, not 24-17. You go in, take care of business, and get ready for the next opponent. Their lackluster performances against an average FCS team, and a former FCS team doesn’t offer much as they enter conference play against Duke next week.
