Utah Football: 3 bold predictions for Pac-12 opener vs. USC
By David Harvey
1. Coliseum curse is broken
Utah seen recent success in games against USC. Last season in Salt Lake, the Utes took care of business with a 41-28 victory. They have seen their fair share of misery when the game is played at the Coliseum against the Trojans. In fact, they have actually never beaten USC at the Coliseum.
The biggest let down there was probably in 2017 where USC narrowly escaped with a one-point victory over the Utes. Utah had a 21-7 lead at the half. USC scored three unanswered touchdowns before the Utes scored again. With the game on the line, Utah decided to go for the two-point conversion to win the game and fell short on the quarterback scramble by two yards.
The over/under in this game is 50.5 points. I see this as being more of an offensive game as well. The Utes have a big experience factor on offense over the Trojans. Kedon Slovis will struggle with pressure in his face all night. The run game could struggle as well, especially if Vavae Malepeai doesn’t suit up for the Trojans.
I’ve got Utah pulling out their first ever victory in the Coliseum in fashion. The Utes win this one 31-21 over the Trojans.
