2. Offense must be more than Laviska Shenault

Everyone in attendance at Folsom Field Saturday night knows Laviska Shenault will touch the ball as much as possible. What second year coach Mel Tucker and offensive coordinator need to do is make sure the offense isn’t Shenault or bust.

The most obvious player to step up and have a big contribution is wide receiver K.D. Nixon. He is the second-leading receiver on the team, averaging 17.9 yards per reception.

What would really help the Buffaloes is more consistent play along their offensive line. They were really good against Colorado State, streaky against Nebraska and streaky again versus Air Force. This would allow redshirt sophomore running back Alex Fontenot to get loose. He’s been very good this year averaging 5.0 yards per carry and scoring three touchdowns.

Colorado needs to be more than “Shenault or bust” on offense, and they have talent at the skill positions. Getting them involved will help them get off to a better start as well.
