1. Brian Lewerke was outstanding

This is the Brian Lewerke the Spartans want to see. He had command of the offense, and he played like he wanted the ball. They needed him to pull away from the Wildcats. The Spartans couldn’t run against the Wildcats with only 109 yards and 2.9 yards per carry. Lewerke was the Spartans’ best playmaker today because he had to be.

Spartan wide receivers Cody White and Darrell Stewart Jr. had over 15 yards per reception in this game. The Spartan offensive line kept Lewerke clean and he was hardly pressured all game. When he had time, Lewerke he put the ball on his receivers on time. He made every throw in the book against Northwestern.

What was most impressive was how he stayed patient. Lewerke didn’t rush things. The Wildcats played hard especially on defense. He took what the defense gave him, and capitalized on opportunities he was given. He didn’t force the ball where it wasn’t supposed to go, or didn’t turn the ball over.
