2. Lynn Bowden Jr., Kentucky’s defense gave them a chance

Kentucky had a rough game overall as they lost 28-13 to Mississippi State. The Bulldogs were in control the whole game, but couldn’t pull away completely as Kentucky stayed in striking distance. Kentucky was down 21-3 before making it 21-13 and a chance to tie the game. However, Mississippi State scored in the fourth to put the game away.

Lynn Bowden Jr. played fantastic in Kentucky’s loss. While he didn’t have a touchdown in the game, he had seven catches for 129 yards and three carries for 37 yards. He made several big plays to keep Kentucky’s drive alive and allow them to possess the ball.

His best play came on a fourth down where he was hit behind the line to gain, but broke the tackle and was able to get the first down. Despite the offense struggling today, Bowden Jr. did enough to keep Mississippi State’s defense on guard.

Kentucky’s defense was stout against Mississippi State even though their offense struggled. It forced Shrader to throw a pick and also recovered a fumble of his. Kentucky’s star linebacker Kash Daniels did not start the game due to his controversial play against Florida last week. He did eventually get in the game though.

Kentucky also made a big play on a pass from Shrader that would have made it 28-3, but the Wildcats defender came in at the last second in the end-zone to knock the ball away. Despite the loss, Kentucky’s defense is good enough to keep them in most games.
