In their annual rivalry game against Tennessee, Florida took care of business in a 34-3 victory that sent the Gators to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in SEC play. The 31-point rout of the Volunteers will shore up Florida’s spot in the top 10 of the AP Top 25 for another week, though they will have several teams breathing close down their neck in terms of vote-shares.

Kyle Trask looked solid enough as the new starter at quarterback, finishing 20-of-28 for 293 yards. Trask threw two touchdown passes, but he also tossed a pair of picks that Tennessee’s offense failed to convert into points. That was a testament to the strength of a Florida defense that held the Volunteers to 239 yards of offense and forced four turnovers.

The Gators get a breather next weekend when FCS Towson comes to Gainesville. Florida should almost certainly be 5-0 and holding serve in the top 10 once they hit an October slate that features Auburn, LSU, and South Carolina before they finally get their first bye week on the last weekend of the month.
