Boise State is now one-third of the way toward a perfect regular season. On Friday night, the Broncos cleared a major hurdle against perennial nemesis Air Force. Bryan Harsin’s team pulled away in the second half of their MWC Mountain showdown to take down the Falcons 30-19 and improve to 4-0 on the season.

Hank Bachmeier went 19-of-26 for 263 yards and two touchdowns through the air, while Robert Mahone punched in two scores on the ground as he finished with 75 rushing yards. The Broncos defense gave up 242 yards to the Falcons option attack, but defensive back Kekaula Kaniho baited Donald Hammond II into a costly interception that Boise State’s offense quickly turned into another touchdown.

Boise State remains right in the thick of the New Year’s Six race as the new top dog among Group of Five teams, and they will likely climb a spot or two into the high teens of the AP Top 25 this week. After they take a break in Week 5, the Broncos return to the field at the beginning of October with a road trip to UNLV before back-to-back tests against Hawaii and BYU.
