1. Losses to the 2019 NFL Draft are glaring

It’s one thing to lose a lot of players to graduation and have to replace players but it’s an entirely different ball game to lose NFL-caliber players. Michigan not only lost players, the Wolverines lost NFL-caliber players, and it showed in this game.

Not only that, Michigan lost leadership from last year’s defense.

Chase Winovich, Devin Bush and Rashan Gary were bedrocks of the Michigan defense. Defensive back David Long also went in the draft. They lost Maurice Hurst to the draft in 2018 along with Taco Charlton and Chris Wormley in 2017. It’s hard to replace that much talent year after year (outside of Tuscaloosa and Clemson), and be the same defense. It showed against the Badgers.

It was the Badgers that looked athletic and fast, not the Wolverines. The Badgers run game completely broke the spirit of the Wolverines. Michigan looked like they were ready to get on the bus by the middle of the third quarter. The Badgers looked like they had the superior talent, not the Wolverines.
