3. Auburn can be more than just a spoiler

Before 2019, the best Auburn could hope for was to be the annoying team in the SEC West. The schedule was too tough for them to get to Atlanta, but they could absolutely ruin a team’s year. Between Oregon, Texas A&M, Florida, Alabama, Georgia or LSU, the Tigers could possibly pull a couple of upsets.

Perhaps they’ve just stolen those two wins early, and they’ll regress to the mean, but that isn’t necessarily the case.

On Saturday, Auburn beat the Aggies behind an elite pass rush, a good offensive line, a productive run game, and some of the country’s most dynamic skill players.

Many still doubt the Tigers because of the quarterback, Bo Nix. That’s not unfair. Through four games, his completion percentage is low and he’s been inconsistent.

However, Nix has all the intangibles. He’s mature, he’s shown great composure and decision making in huge moments. He may not have won the game in College Station, but he didn’t lose it.

When you add it all together, Auburn looks like a team that could make a serious run. They do get the two biggest games of the year, against Alabama and Georgia, at home. Jordan-Hare worked its magic again two years ago, perhaps the Tigers can make it happen again.
