As one of just a dozen and a half teams still unbeaten at the FBS level, Baylor looks like they can jump into the AP Top 25 for the first time since November 2016. They prevailed over Iowa State, sending the Cyclones to .500 overall as the Bears secured their first Big 12 victory of the season as they took a big early lead, watched Iowa State come back, and then kicked the winning field goal with 21 seconds left for the 23-21 win.

It was an aerial display in Waco, as Charlie Brewer threw for 307 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. The Bears finished with 104 rushing yards on 34 carries as they outgained the Cyclones by 41 yards on the ground. Iowa State’s Brock Purdy threw for 342 yards, but the Bears also forced a fumble and an interception that sealed the final result.

Now that they are ranked, Baylor heads to Manhattan next weekend for a contest against Kansas State. Matt Rhule’s squad also faces Texas Tech and Oklahoma State in October, then close out the month with a Halloween-night contest against West Virginia at home.
