3. Cam Akers carried the Seminoles

Cam Akers should be applauded for his persistence with the Florida State Seminoles. It may not show up in the stat sheet game in and game out, but Akers is a focal point for the Seminoles and it showed more than ever on Saturday. With a replacement quarterback in the game, Akers was still able to rush for 83 yards and a touchdown.

You could tell throughout the course of the game, Akers was at the forefront of the NC State defenses minds, allowing for Alex Hornibrook to exploit the Wolfpack’s defensive secondary on multiple occasions catching them looking in the backfield.

Even in a supposed down year for the Seminoles dropping their first two of three games, Akers has rushed for almost 600 yards and seven touchdowns. Carrying the ball at a 5.1 yards an attempt, he has been a huge bright spot for FSU. If Florida State wants to finish out the rest of this season on a high note and get to a bowl game, they will have to lean heavily on Akers.
