Cornerback. Ohio State Buckeyes. player. 59. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Jeffery Okudah. 9

The Dolphins acquired this pick in the trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for often-played-out-of-position Minkah Fitzpatrick. They tried moving him around too much, although he’s capable, but Miami finds a lockdown corner in Ohio State’s Jeffery Okudah.

Another Buckeye defensive back in the first round? Absolutely, and Okudah might be the best yet. He might not get the immediate recognition that Malik Hooker and others received while at Ohio State, but Ryan Day isn’t quite Urban Meyer; Meyer knew how to talk up his players. There’s a chance Okudah might not need any help from his coach, though, as he’s virtually locked everything down that opponents have thrown at him this season.

He’s recorded three interception, while also adding three pass deflections and 14 tackles this season. And at 6-foot-1 and 200 lbs., Okudah won’t be outmatched by the No. 1 wide receivers at the next level he’ll undoubtedly be covering. If he continues his upward trajectory, drafting him at No. 9 would be an absolute steal for any team in the NFL.
