Scouting Report. Trevon Diggs. player. 11. 87. Pick Analysis. Cornerback. Alabama Crimson Tide

While one NFC North team chooses a quarterback with their first pick, the Carolina Panthers opt for a position who can help defend the pass one pick later: cornerback. And they’ll find their guy in the form of Alabama’s Trevon Diggs.

The former wide receiver has made a name for himself playing defense for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. He isn’t a turnover machine, totaling just three career interceptions in four years, but he’s amassed 10 pass deflections for Alabama. These are decent numbers, especially for a defense who is always playing with a lead, but Diggs has great size for a cornerback.

Diggs is listed at 6-foot-2, and while you can’t teach speed, height is another intangible that can’t be learned. The Panthers drafted the 5-foot-11 Donte Jackson from LSU in 2018 to play one side of the secondary, and adding another SEC talent at the position could set them up beautifully for the future.
