Although their most recent offseason made the Browns Super Bowl contenders on paper, their opponents didn’t just lay down in 2019, giving them an early pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. And with that selection, they choose to address the middle of their defense by taking Auburn defensive tackle Derrick Brown.

Brown was considered by many a season ago as one of the top interior lineman in the draft before he decided to return for his senior season. For the Tigers, Brown has done a little bit of everything — pressured quarterbacks (10.5 sacks), deflected passes (seven), forced fumbles (four) and recovered some (two). Did I mention he’s 6-foot-5 and weighs in at 318 pounds? That’s a lot of activity for such a big man.

If the Browns were to place him in the middle of their defense, things would become exponentially easier for pass rushers Myles Garrett and Olivier Vernon. The addition of Sheldon Richardson this past summer is a short-term move, but Brown could be a staple in Cleveland’s defense for years to come.
