2020 NFL Mock Draft, Week 6: Chase Young takes top spot
By Phil Poling
The Tennessee Titans have plenty of needs, and some think it’s time to move on from quarterback Marcus Mariota. But instead of bailing on a first round pick who’s had little-to-no-help at wide receiver, they should opt to get him another weapon. Alabama’s Henry Ruggs would complement that offense nicely.
Ruggs is sort of an afterthought for the Crimson Tide right now, with most of the focus on quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, but Ruggs deserves attention and will demand it when the NFL Combine rolls around. He’s 6-foot-0, 190 pounds, and like every Alabama offensive player with Tagovailoa getting him the ball, seems to have a knack for the big play.
He played in all 14 games in both his freshman and sophomore seasons, and has tallied 75 receptions,1,331 yards and 21 touchdowns during his career. Seventeen of those receptions have come this season, and while the Crimson Tide distribute the ball all around, Ruggs’ yards per catch average sits at 21.2; he’s got big play ability.
It’s usually Alabama defensive players who dominate the first round of NFL drafts, but we could see a number of offensive players joining them in 2020.
