2020 NFL Mock Draft, Week 6: Chase Young takes top spot
By Phil Poling
With Matt Patricia as head coach, the Detroit Lions will likely continue looking for help on the defensive side of the ball. And getting after the quarterback is a deal deal, especially in a division that Aaron Rodgers has dominated for a decade; Alabama’s Anfernee Jennings could help in that area.
Jennings is a redshirt senior for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide and has been feasting in opponent’s backfields for a few seasons now. He’s racked up 26 tackles for loss in addition to his nine career sacks, but has a knack for getting his hands up and in the passing lanes, too. Jennings has 14 pass deflections, 11 of which came last season, and even has one interception (and defensive touchdown) to put on his resume.
A run on Crimson Tide players could easily happen in the 2020 first round — four have been mocked to teams already — so it’s easy to see why they don’t all have top-tier statistical seasons. But it’s about the body of work and what’s possible in the future for these guys, as Alabama players have an excellent track record in the league after playing for Saban.
