1. Arizona State is a serious Pac-12 contender

The Pac-12 title race is wide open. Even with a loss already on the record in conference play, the Sun Devils play in one of the most winnable divisions in college football.

Losing to Colorado was painful, but the Sun Devils have what it takes to make up for that with wins against Utah, UCLA and USC. It’s not going to be easy, but this team has shown it can beat each of those teams, even if two of them come on the road.

Colorado currently holds a one-game lead over the Sun Devils after the head-to-head win, but there’s still a long way to go. There’s a good chance the Buffaloes’ lead won’t hold as they’re already exceeding 2019 expectations through five weeks.

Will the Sun Devils prove to be true Pac-12 contenders? It’s possible, but the coming weeks will tell us a lot more than a win over Cal did.
